The Riace Bronzes are at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Reggio Calabria, open Tuesday to Sunday 9 am to 8 pm, with a €10 full ticket (2026).

## Open until 8 pm, closed on Monday

The museum runs 9 am to 8 pm from Tuesday to Sunday, with last entry at 7:30 pm (09:00 to 20:00 and 19:30 on Italian signs), and closes on Mondays.

An 8 pm closing is generous for an Italian state museum, and it changes how you use a day at the end of the peninsula: a late train or a late flight still leaves time for the statues.

## €10, and the €5 that starts at 6 pm

The full ticket is €10, EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2, and under-18s enter free (2026). Prices are in euros.

From 6 pm to closing the MArRC Slim ticket costs €5, and a separate MArRC Expo ticket also costs €5. Season tickets are €22 Gold, €40 Family and €5 Young for 18 to 25s.

These rates have been in force since July 1, 2024, and were reconfirmed in September 2026 on two separate pages of the museum's own site.

## August 1972, 8 meters down

The two bronzes were found in August 1972 in the sea off Riace Marina, at a depth of 8 meters, by the diver Stefano Mariottini.

They are Greek statues of the 5th century BC, standing just under 2 meters, and their origin is placed in Attica or the Argolid. They were cast by the lost-wax method.

The details are what hold people: eyes of calcite and glass paste, lips and anatomical features inlaid in copper and silver.

## The room holds a limited number of people

Access to the 1 room that holds the statues, the Sala dei Bronzi di Riace e di Porticello, is regulated with a capped capacity, for conservation reasons.

The museum does not publish the maximum number admitted at once, and no figure is invented here. Nor does it publish the exact height of the statues in centimeters: its own wording is just under 2 meters.

In practice that cap means a wait at the door of one room, inside a museum you have already entered.

## 2 minutes from the station

The address is Piazza De Nava 26, roughly a 2-minute walk from Reggio Calabria Lido station.

Buses link the airport and the port to the city, but the museum gives no line numbers and no frequencies, so this page gives none either. Cloakroom use is free, there is a bookshop, and guided visits run in Italian and English.

## The domain that is not the domain anymore

1 redirect is worth knowing about: museoarcheologicoreggiocalabria.it now returns a 301 to the institutional address on cultura.gov.it.

Use the cultura.gov.it page as the reference for prices and hours. Group bookings go through 06 39967600. For the wider region, see [Calabria](/regions/calabria).
