If you have time for only one, the Uffizi is the bigger, busier and dearer visit, 5,294,968 visitors in 2024 against the Accademia's 2,189,103 and 25 euro against 20 for a same-day ticket, and at both a guaranteed time slot costs 4 euro more, 29 and 24 euro.

## Two Florence museums in numbers

| | Uffizi Galleries | Galleria dell'Accademia |
|---|---:|---:|
| Visitors 2024 | 5,294,968 | 2,189,103 |
| Rank among state museums and sites | 2nd | 5th |
| Gross takings 2024 | 61,943,626 euro | 27,122,131 euro |
| Full ticket, same day, 2026 | 25 euro | 20 euro |
| With a booked time slot | 29 euro | 24 euro |
| Late ticket | 16 euro after 4:00 pm | not in our sources |
| Free first Sunday of the month | yes | not stated in our sources |

Italy's state museums, monuments and archaeological sites drew 60,850,091 visitors in 2024, the highest figure in the series. The Uffizi alone accounts for close to 9% of them.

## The Uffizi is second in Italy, the Accademia fifth

The Uffizi Galleries recorded 5,294,968 visitors in 2024, second among Italian state cultural sites after the Colosseum archaeological park, and the Accademia recorded 2,189,103, fifth. Two of Italy's five busiest state museums and sites are in the same city.

Divide the takings by the visitors and the two come out close, with the Accademia taking slightly more per head despite its cheaper ticket.

The Uffizi's visitor figure covers the whole Uffizi Galleries complex, not just the gallery building on the Arno, so the comparison flatters it a little.

## Booking ahead costs 4 euro at both

At the Uffizi a full ticket costs 25 euro for the same day and 29 euro if you book ahead; at the Accademia it's 20 euro, plus 4 euro for a reservation. Both museums charge the same premium for certainty.

The Uffizi's pricing is unusual in one respect: it doesn't sell a cheap ticket and a booking fee, it sells two prices, and the higher one is the booked one. Either way the arithmetic is the same. Decide whether a guaranteed entry time is worth 4 euro per person on the day you're going.

## The Uffizi's late ticket

Since January 2026 the Uffizi sells a 16 euro ticket for entry after 4:00 pm, 9 euro less than the same-day full ticket. The reduced ticket is 2 euro, and entry is free on the first Sunday of every month.

If you want the Vasari Corridor as well, the combined ticket costs 43 euro for the same day or 47 euro booked ahead. Groups of 11 or more pay a 70 euro supplement. The full detail of the Uffizi's tickets is on [the Uffizi page](/attractions/uffizi).

## What this page doesn't compare

Our verified sources give us visitor figures and prices for both museums and nothing we can quote about what hangs in the Accademia, so this page compares tickets, not collections, and won't describe the art from memory.

We also have no queue times for either museum and no late or free-day rules for the Accademia. For the gallery's own opening hours and rules, see [the Galleria dell'Accademia](/attractions/galleria-accademia-firenze), and for how release windows work across Italian museums, [the ticket release calendar](/plan/ticket-release-calendar).

## Pick which

Pick the Uffizi if you're giving a museum half a day and you can use the 16 euro late ticket after 4:00 pm or the free first Sunday.

Pick the Accademia if you want the cheaper ticket, 20 euro or 24 with a slot. If you're doing both in one day, book both: at 2,189,103 and 5,294,968 visitors a year, neither is a museum you should turn up at hoping for the best.
