The Fondazione INDA stages ancient drama in the Teatro Greco of Siracusa: the 61st season ran from April 13 to June 28, 2026, and the 62nd, in 2027, has its four titles announced but no dates yet.

## 2026: Alcestis, Antigone, The Persians, the Iliad

The 61st season opened on April 13 and closed on June 28, 2026, with Euripides' Alcestis, Sophocles' Antigone, Aeschylus' The Persians and a staging of Homer's Iliad. Four productions shared one theater for eleven weeks.

Performances started at 7:00 pm in May and 7:30 pm in June (19:00 and 19:30 on the tickets). That makes a play an evening out, with the day free for the rest of the city.

## 2027: four titles, no calendar

The 62nd season is announced with four productions: Euripides' Trojan Women, Sophocles' Philoctetes, Aristophanes' The Birds, and Ulisse, l'ultima Odissea. The dates for each title are not published yet.

The 2026 calendar came as a PDF we could not read, so even this year's dates per title were never in our sources. When the 2027 program appears, the season window is the first thing to check, then the title you want.

## The theater sits inside the Neapolis

The Teatro Greco dates from the 3rd century BC, on a plan from the 5th century BC, and it stands inside the Neapolis archaeological park, which covers 240,000 square meters in the northern part of the city. The Roman amphitheater and the Altar of Hieron II are in the same park.

By day the park costs €14 full and €7 reduced, opens every day from 8:30 am to 7:40 pm and stops selling tickets at 6:30 pm (2026). Whether a performance ticket also covers a daytime visit is not stated in anything we read, so plan them as two purchases. Prices are in euros.

The ancient city, Ortigia and the Neapolis together, is one half of the UNESCO site Siracusa and the Rocky Necropolis of Pantalica, listed in 2005. The other half is the Pantalica plateau, 25 miles (40 km) away, with over 5,000 tombs cut into the rock.

The park's other sites and how the day fits together are at [the Neapolis](/attractions/neapolis-siracusa). For Ortigia and the rest of the city, see [Siracusa](/towns/siracusa) and [things to do in Siracusa](/towns/siracusa/things-to-do).
