# ZTL map: perimeters and gate hours

This map draws the limited traffic zone boundaries for the cities with a consultable ordinance, and writes the hours of each gate next to the line it controls, because a ZTL boundary without its timetable is not usable information.

## What the map shows

Every line on the map is a boundary controlled by camera gates that read number plates, with entry allowed to registered permits in defined time bands and a penalty issued automatically afterwards. That mechanism is identical in the cities drawn here, and the differences are all in the hours.

Rome carries five zones, of which the Centro Storico line runs 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday. Florence draws as a single center split into five sectors, A, B, O, F and G, with A, B and O live 7:30 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays and to 4:00 pm on Saturday.

Milan is the one paid perimeter on the map: Area C, inside the Cerchia dei Bastioni, at €7.50 a day, Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.

## What the map cannot show

There is no national register of ZTL perimeters in Italy, so this map is built city by city from municipal ordinances, and it stops where a readable ordinance stops. Night zones, seasonal extensions and event closures move faster than any map, and Florence adds a summer night zone from the first Thursday of April.

Treat an undrawn historic center as restricted rather than open. The safe move is the same everywhere: park outside the walls and walk in.

### Is there a map of Italian ZTL zones?

This is one, limited to the cities whose ordinances we could read: Rome, Florence and Milan. Each boundary carries the hours of its own gate, because a line without a timetable tells you nothing useful about whether you may cross it.

### How do I know if my hotel is inside the ZTL?

Compare the address to the drawn boundary, then read the hours beside it. In Rome the Centro Storico zone runs 6:30 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays, so a hotel inside it is reachable by car outside those hours without any permit at all.

### Which Italian cities are missing from this map?

Most of them. Bologna, Verona, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, Turin, Palermo and dozens of smaller towns run limited traffic zones we have no verified perimeter for, and for Naples we hold the gate hours but not a boundary we could draw. A city missing here is not a city without a ZTL.
