## The shortest high-speed leg in the country

1 hour 13 minutes between Roma Termini and Napoli Centrale is the fastest direct service, against a median of 1 hour 18 and a slowest direct of 2 hours 3 minutes. That last figure is the one to watch: the spread here is 50 minutes, far wider in proportion than on the northern routes.

## The second train is the hard part

The EAV L1 line from Naples to Sorrento is the only one of the Vesuvian lines that stops at both Ercolano Scavi and Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri. It leaves from Porta Nolana and from Garibaldi, next to Napoli Centrale, on a timetable in force since March 28, 2026.

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale is the other half of Pompeii, because most of what was portable is in it. Open Wednesday to Monday, 9:00 am to 7:30 pm (09:00 to 19:30), last entry 6:30 pm, closed Tuesday, at 20.00 euro full and 2.00 euro reduced for EU citizens aged 18 to 25.

10.00 euro with the Artecard, free for under 18s and on the first Sunday of the month. Some rooms are closed for works, which the museum states on its own page.
