## The one southern region that is also a tourist region

Campania recorded 21,369,462 overnight stays in 2024, 4.58% of the Italian total, which puts it in a different category from the other roots destinations.

That changes the trip in two ways. Accommodation, trains and car hire are abundant, unlike in Molise or inland Calabria; and prices in the coastal belt follow international demand rather than local demand.

## The local line, and what it does not publish

EAV line L1, Naples to Sorrento, leaves from Porta Nolana and Garibaldi and is the only Vesuvian line serving both Ercolano Scavi and Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri. The current timetable dates from March 28, 2026.

The other Vesuvian lines are L4 to Poggiomarino, L6 to Sarno and L8 to Baiano. What EAV does not publish on any readable page is the fare between two stations or the real frequency, and in July 2026 it reissued replacement bus arrangements on the Naples to Baiano line.
