# Stories that begin with a figure nobody lined up

Every story below began as a discrepancy or an absence in an official source, and exists because no other Italian travel site had set that figure next to the one it contradicts.

## Two official bodies, one mountain, three heights

The INGV profile gives Etna 3,324 m, the Civil Protection Department gives 3,350 m, and an INGV drone survey in July 2024 measured 3,369 m at the rim of the Voragine. All three stay on the page. A story in this section is not a retelling of something already written elsewhere; it is what appears when two public datasets are read against each other and refuse to agree.

## What an absence is worth

Molise and Valle d'Aosta are the only two Italian regions with no inscribed UNESCO property, and that fact carries a story that the presence of a site would not. Several pages here are built on something missing from the public record, and they name what is missing and who should have published it, rather than writing around the hole.
