# Florence: four ticket systems that ignore each other

> The dome climb sits only in the 30 euro Brunelleschi Pass, the Uffizi has its own 40 euro PassePartout, and the whole center is a ZTL in five sectors.

Florence runs its monuments through four separate ticketing systems that share no account and no basket: the Uffizi Galleries, the Duomo complex, the civic museums, and the €85 Firenze Card on top.

## The Duomo complex sells passes, not tickets

There is no single ticket for the cathedral complex in 2026, only three cumulative passes: Brunelleschi at €30, Giotto at €20 and Ghiberti at €15. For ages 7 to 14 they cost €12, €7 and €5, and under 6s enter free. Prices in euros.

The dome climb is inside the Brunelleschi Pass and nowhere else, which is the single most expensive misunderstanding in this city. Giotto adds the campanile, the Opera del Duomo museum, the baptistery and Santa Reparata; Ghiberti drops the campanile too. One thing to know before you pay: the mosaics of the baptistery vault are behind restoration screens in 2026.

## Uffizi, Pitti and Boboli travel together

The Gallerie degli Uffizi sell a 5 Day PassePartout at €40 in 2026, covering the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Garden, with a €58 version that adds the Vasari Corridor.

If you live here or come back often, the annual pass to the whole complex is €80, €120 for a family, and Boboli alone is €25 a year. On a single visit, the Vasari Corridor supplement is €20. Five days is generous for three sites, so the pass mostly buys you the freedom to split Pitti and Boboli across two mornings.

## Palazzo Vecchio, the tower, and the card

Palazzo Vecchio costs €12 for the museum and €13 for the Arnolfo Tower in 2026, and the tower is a separate purchase even though it is the same building.

The rest of the civic museums are cheap by comparison: €5 at Santa Maria Novella, the Fondazione Salvatore Romano and Forte di Belvedere, €7 at the Museo Stefano Bardini, €9 at the Museo Novecento, €10 at the Brancacci Chapel, with guided visits at €8. Against that, the Firenze Card at €85 for 72 hours, one entry per participating museum, only makes sense at a pace most people do not keep. ## The ZTL is not a street, it is the center

All of central Florence is a limited traffic zone split into 5 sectors, A, B, O, F and G. In sectors A, B and O it operates all year from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday.

From the first Thursday of April to the first Sunday of October there is an extra night ZTL on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, indicatively 11:00 pm to 3:00 am. Cameras read plates at the gates automatically, some gates are closed to private traffic 24 hours a day, and a hotel inside the zone has to register your plate for you. Fines arrive at home months later. See [getting to Florence](/towns/firenze/getting-there).

## What the bed tax adds per night

Florence charges from €3.50 per person per night in a one star hotel up to €8.00 in a five star, with €6.00 for B&Bs, guesthouses, holiday homes and tourist lets, for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights.

The rates were reset by council decision 535 of December 10, 2024 and have applied since February 1, 2025; the 2025 change added €0.50 only to non hotel accommodation in ordinary residential buildings and to tourist lets. Campsites pay €3.50, hostels and holiday houses €4.00, historic residences €7.00. Budget it as cash on arrival for small properties. ## FAQ

### How do you climb the dome of Florence cathedral?

Only with the Brunelleschi Pass, €30 for adults and €12 for ages 7 to 14. The Duomo complex sells no single tickets, so the cheaper Giotto Pass at €20 and Ghiberti Pass at €15 both leave the dome out. Under 6s go free.

### What does the Uffizi PassePartout cover?

The Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Garden for five days, at €40 in 2026. A version including the Vasari Corridor costs €58, and the corridor supplement on a single visit is €20. An annual pass to the whole complex is €80, or €120 for a family.

### Is the Firenze Card worth €85?

It runs 72 hours and gives one entry per participating museum, so it pays off only at a hard pace. For comparison, Palazzo Vecchio alone is €12 and the Arnolfo Tower €13, while the smaller civic museums run from €5 at Santa Maria Novella to €10 at the Brancacci Chapel.

### Can you drive into the center of Florence?

Not without a permit. The entire historic center is a ZTL in five sectors, A, B, O, F and G. In A, B and O it is live 7:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, all year, with automatic plate reading at every gate.

### How much is the tourist tax in Florence per night?

From €3.50 per person in a one star hotel to €8.00 in a five star, and €6.00 in B&Bs, guesthouses, holiday apartments and short lets, capped at 7 consecutive nights. The rates come from council decision 535 of December 10, 2024, in force since February 1, 2025.
