Loreto's Santa Casa: 6:15 am to 7:30 pm, every day

The Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House in Loreto opens every day from 6:15 am to 7:30 pm, and the basilica around the Santa Casa was built between 1469 and 1587 (2026).

6:15 am to 7:30 pm, seven days a week

The Santuario della Santa Casa opens every day from 6:15 am to 7:30 pm (06:15 to 19:30 on the notices), at Piazza della Madonna 1, Loreto (2026).

It's a working shrine run by the Pontifical Delegation, not a museum, and the timetable is built for worship first. A 6:15 am opening makes it the one visit of the day you can make before breakfast.

Confessions: two timetables

Confessions are heard Monday to Saturday from 8 am to noon and from 3 pm to 7 pm, and on Sundays and holidays from 7 am to noon and from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.

Those hours are also a guide to when the basilica is in use for worship, and a Sunday morning is not the moment for a sightseeing lap.

A basilica built between 1469 and 1587

The basilica that encloses the Santa Casa took from 1469 to 1587 to build, well over a century.

That span shows in the building: you're looking at the work of successive generations of builders rather than a single design.

What the shrine's own page doesn't say

The shrine's page does not mention the traditional 1294 date for the arrival of the house, or its patronage of aviators, so neither is repeated here as fact.

Both are widely told. Neither appears on the only primary source read for this page, the Pontifical Delegation's.

Casa Leopardi: €20 with a guide, €10 short

At Casa Leopardi in Recanati, the full guided visit, about 45 minutes through the library, the house and the museum, costs €20 full and €13 reduced (2026).

The short route, library and museum in 30 minutes, costs €10 full and €8 reduced. Family tickets are €53 and €28. Children under 6, visitors with disabilities and ICOM members go free, and the house closes on December 24, December 25 and January 1. Prices are in euros.

Still the family's house

Casa Leopardi is still private property of the Leopardi family, and the visit covers the library where Giacomo studied, the apartments where he lived with his siblings, the piano nobile, open since March 2020, and the garden behind Le ricordanze.

Giacomo Leopardi was born there on June 29, 1798, the first of seven children of Count Monaldo Leopardi and Adelaide Antici. The address is Via Leopardi 14, Recanati.

Two timetables for Casa Leopardi

Casa Leopardi's own site gives two timetables for 2026: every day from 9 am to 7:15 pm on the homepage, and Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, closed Monday, on the prices page.

The prices on the two pages agree; the hours don't. Phone before a Monday visit or anything after 5 pm.
