Naples Archaeological Museum: €20, and never on Tuesday

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli (MANN) opens Wednesday to Monday from 9 am to 7:30 pm, closes on Tuesdays, and costs €20 for a full ticket (2026).

€20, €2 at 18 to 25, free under 18

The full ticket is €20. EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2, and under 18s go free (2026).

The list of free days is long: the first Sunday of the month, March 8 for women, April 25, June 2 and November 4. Qualified Italian teachers and visitors with a disability also go free.

The annual Open MANN card costs €25 for adults and €5 for young people. At €20 a visit, the adult card pays for itself on the second one.

Closed on Tuesday, open on Tuesday holidays

The MANN opens Wednesday to Monday, 9 am to 7:30 pm, with last entry at 6:30 pm, and closes on Tuesday (2026).

The exception is useful: when a Tuesday is a public holiday, the museum opens, except on January 1 and December 25. So a holiday Tuesday is a MANN day, an ordinary one isn't.

The museum also notes that some rooms are temporarily closed for works. Which ones is not listed on the page we read, so if one room is the reason for your visit, ask before you pay.

Capodimonte: €10, and you can come back

The Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte costs €10 full, €2 for ages 18 to 25, and is free under 18 (2026). The ticket includes the exhibitions in progress and is valid for the whole day with re-entry, at Via Lucio Amelio 2.

Re-entry is the detail that changes the day. You can see the museum, go out into the park, eat, and come back in, on the same ticket. Italian citizens resident abroad are also on the free list, which is worth knowing for anyone visiting family in Campania.

Capodimonte's opening hours and the extent of the park were not verified on the pages we could reach. Check the hours before you plan the trip.

First Sunday: free at the MANN

The MANN is free on the first Sunday of every month, the national #DomenicalMuseo day on which state museums, galleries, archaeological sites and gardens open without a ticket.

The scheme covers state sites only. Civic, diocesan and private museums in Naples are outside it and set their own rules, so a free Sunday at the MANN does not make every museum in the city free.

The city is at Naples, getting there at getting to Naples, the city underneath at Napoli Sotterranea, and the excavations themselves at Pompeii and Herculaneum.
