Brera: one €20 ticket, two buildings, seven days

The Pinacoteca di Brera sells a single ticket, La Grande Brera, at €20 full and €4 for EU citizens aged 18 to 25; it's valid for 7 days and also covers Palazzo Citterio (2026).

No Pinacoteca-only ticket anymore

There is no longer a ticket for the Pinacoteca alone: the only one on sale is La Grande Brera, which includes Palazzo Citterio.

That change is recent, dating from 2024 and 2025, and older guides still quote a single-gallery price. If a site offers you "Pinacoteca only", it's out of date or it isn't the official channel.

€20, and 7 days to use it

La Grande Brera costs €20 full and €4 for EU citizens aged 18 to 25, and it stays valid for 7 days (2026). Prices are in euros.

Seven days changes how you plan. You don't need to do both buildings in one go: the Pinacoteca on arrival day, Palazzo Citterio later in the week, on the same ticket.

Booking is compulsory, free Sunday included

Every visit needs a booking through Brera Booking, including the free first Sunday of the month (2026).

The free Sunday is free, not open-door. Without a booked slot you don't get in on that day either.

Last entry at 6 pm, 75 minutes before closing

The gallery opens Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 7:15 pm, but last entry is at 6 pm, 75 minutes before the doors close (18:00 at the desk).

That's a long gap, and it catches people who read only the closing time. A 6:15 pm arrival is a closed door.

Closed Mondays, and three dates

Brera is closed every Monday, and on January 1, May 1 and December 25 (2026).

May 1 is the one to watch: it isn't on most visitors' list of closing days. For what else shuts on Mondays across the country, see what's closed on Mondays.

Two Milan bookings, two calendars

Brera's booking can be made once your dates are fixed; Leonardo's Last Supper in the same city runs a booking calendar of its own.

Sort the Last Supper first, then fit Brera and its 7-day ticket around it. More on the city: Milan and the Milan questions page.

FAQ

Do you need to book the Pinacoteca di Brera?

Yes. Every visit needs a booking through the Brera Booking system, and that includes the free first Sunday of the month (2026). Turning up without a slot is not a way in, even on the days when entry costs nothing.

How much is the Pinacoteca di Brera ticket?

€20 full and €4 for EU citizens aged 18 to 25, for a ticket called La Grande Brera (2026). It's valid for 7 days and covers Palazzo Citterio as well; a Pinacoteca-only ticket no longer exists.

What time is last entry at Brera?

6 pm, although the gallery stays open until 7:15 pm (18:00 and 19:15 on Italian signs). It opens at 8:30 am Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays (2026).

Is the Pinacoteca di Brera open on May 1?

No. Besides every Monday, the gallery closes on January 1, May 1 and December 25 (2026). If you're in Milan on May 1, move Brera to the day before or after, and book either way.
