The Last Supper sells its tickets in quarterly blocks, with a further batch of 2151 a day put online every Wednesday at noon, and that release calendar is the one thing worth planning a Milan trip around.
Four release dates a year, plus a Wednesday
Tickets for the Cenacolo Vinciano come out 4 times a year: in September for November to January, in December for February to April, in March for May to July, and in June for August to October. On top of that, every Wednesday at 12:00 noon Italian time, a batch of 2151 additional daily tickets for the following week goes on sale, online only (2026).
So there are two ways in. Book three to six months out at the quarterly opening, or set an alarm for the Wednesday release and take what is left for the week ahead. Read the Last Supper releases tickets quarterly.
The price, and the compulsory booking
A ticket costs €15 full and €2 for EU citizens aged 18 to 25 in 2026, with free entry under 18. Prices in euros.
Booking is compulsory for every ticket type, and that includes anyone entitled to free entry: without a reservation the free ticket is worth nothing at the door. This is the detail that sends people away, because it is the opposite of how the rest of Italian state museums behave. See the Milan FAQ and the Brera gallery.
Area C: €7.50 to drive inside the Bastioni
Area C is the charged limited traffic zone covering the Cerchia dei Bastioni, live Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, public holidays excluded, all year (2026). The standard day ticket is €7.50.
Residents pay €3.00 from their 51st entry in a year, after registering; service vehicles and cars using garages inside the zone pay €4.50. If you forget, you can still regularize at €22.503 until midnight on the seventh day after the entry. These rates have applied since October 30, 2023, and electronic gates read every plate. See getting to Milan.
Area B is bigger, free, and stricter
Area B is a low emission zone that carries no charge at all, covers a far wider area than Area C, and acts on 65% of Milan's annual road traffic emissions by the city's own calculation. Instead of a ticket it bans the most polluting vehicle classes, on a calendar that tightens over time.
For a rental car this is the real risk, because a car that is legal in Area C may still be barred from Area B, and the two are separate systems with separate signs. Some drivers use MoVe-In, the regional telematic box that trades a mileage allowance for access.
The bed tax went up on April 1, 2026
Rates in force since April 1, 2026 run from €3.00 per person per night in a one star hotel, a youth hostel or an open air site to €12.00 in a five star hotel. Three star hotels are €7.00 and four star €10.00.
B&Bs, holiday houses and apartments, Lombard guesthouses, inns and short lets all sit at €9.50, which is close to a four star rate and worth adding to your nightly budget before you compare an apartment with a hotel. Small properties often ask for it in cash on arrival. See where to stay in Milan and Lombardy.
