Bolzano Christmas market: dates and hours

The Bolzano Christmas market runs in Piazza Walther and along via Isarco from November 27, 2026 to January 6, 2027, open from 10 am to 7 pm, with special hours on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1, after an inauguration on November 26 at 5 pm.

The 2026-2027 market takes three spaces: Piazza Walther, via Isarco and the Parco di Natale. It opens on November 27, 2026, the day after the inauguration at 5 pm on November 26, and closes on January 6, 2027.

January 6 is Epiphany, so the market outlasts Christmas by almost two weeks. If your trip falls between Christmas and New Year, it is still open.

A market in a two-language city

Bolzano is the Italian-speaking capital of South Tyrol: in the 2024 language census 74.71%³ of residents declared themselves in the Italian group, 24.74%³ in the German group and 0.55%³ Ladin. Italian and German are both official languages of the comune.

The Renon cable car, every 4 minutes

The Renon cable car climbs from Bolzano (274⁴ m) to Soprabolzano (1,222⁴ m) in about 12 minutes along 4,541⁴ meters of line, with a car every 4 minutes. The current 3S system has run since May 23, 2009.

It is the quickest way out of the crowd at the market and back in time for dark. Other day plans are at things to do in Bolzano, and the whole month at events in December.
