When is the Palio di Siena?

Twice every year on fixed dates: July 2, the Palio di Provenzano, and August 16, the Palio dell'Assunta, both in Piazza del Campo. Ten of the 17 contrade run each race. If weather forces a postponement, it moves to the next day.

When is Carnival in Venice?

It moves with Easter, ending on Shrove Tuesday, 47 days before Easter Sunday. The city has recorded a carnival since 1094, made it official by Senate decree in 1296, lost it in 1797 and brought it back in 1979. Dates for the next edition are not yet confirmed.

Which months have the big Italian art events?

The Venice Biennale alternates: art in even years, architecture in odd ones. The 61st Art Biennale runs May 9 to November 22, 2026, and the 83rd Venice Film Festival ran September 2 to 12, 2026 at the Lido.

When is the white truffle fair in Alba?

The 96th International White Truffle Fair runs October 10 to December 6, 2026 in Alba, in Piedmont. It is one of the longest events in the Italian calendar, spread over weekends rather than run as a single block.

What is the Calcio Storico in Florence?

A four team tournament in Piazza Santa Croce, preceded by a costumed procession. In 2026 the semifinals were June 13 and 14 and the final was June 24, the feast of Saint John, patron of Florence, which is the traditional date of the final.
