Verona: the Arena is two markets in one building

The Arena sells two completely different things: a €22 to €420 opera seat for the 2027 festival, and a daytime ticket to a Roman amphitheater, and they run on separate systems.

Opera seats: €22 to €420, all numbered

For the 2027 season, prices run from €22 in the sixth sector of the numbered stone tiers to €420 for Poltronissima Platinum Premium, with stalls starting at €135. Prices in euros.

The unnumbered stone tier no longer exists. Even the cheapest sectors are now assigned seats on the stone steps, without a chair, which is worth knowing before you spend four hours on them: bring a cushion, and check whether your sector is Rossini, Puccini or Verdi, since those run €60 to €155 depending on the night. Tribune seats are €125 to €200.

The 2027 festival dates

The 104th edition of the Arena di Verona Opera Festival runs from June 11 to September 11, 2027, produced by the Fondazione Arena di Verona.

That is nearly three months in which the city's evenings, restaurants and room rates organize themselves around the amphitheater. If opera is not why you are here, the last week of September is the same city at a different price. See things to do in Verona.

The building itself is 1st century

The Romans built the Arena around the middle of the 1st century AD, and it held an estimated 30,000 spectators. Of the outer facade only a short stretch survives, called the Ala, in the Tuscan order.

What you walk into is therefore the inner ring, the arena floor, the tiered cavea and the podium that separated them. Read it as a stadium rather than a theater, because that is what the crowd flow was designed for. See the Arena.

One official ticket site, and the lookalikes

The Comune di Verona names 1 official website for buying civic museum tickets online, verona.midaticket.it, also reachable from museiverona.com, and warns that entry is not guaranteed with tickets bought through other channels.

That covers the Arena, Juliet's House, the Museo di Castelvecchio, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Achille Forti, the Museo Archeologico al Teatro Romano, the Museo degli Affreschi at Juliet's tomb, the Museo di Storia Naturale, the Museo Lapidario Maffeiano and the Scavi Scaligeri photography center. Write the domain down before you search, because the resellers that outrank it charge two or three times the price for the same entry.

Juliet's House is entered from the theater

Entry is from the Teatro Nuovo in piazzetta Navona rather than the courtyard on via Cappello, and the 2026 hours are Monday 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Tickets for both the courtyard and the house are sold online only, on the official site above. The courtyard with the balcony is the photograph; the house is a museum interior, and the two are separate decisions about how you spend twenty minutes. See Veneto.
