Every seat at the Arena di Verona opera festival is now a numbered place, priced from €22 on bare stone to €4201, with the stalls starting at €1351 for the 2027 season.
The cheap ticket changed, and nobody announced it loudly
All 11 sectors in the 2027 price list carry numbered places, including the cheapest, and the old unnumbered admission to the stone tiers has gone. That list was already published on September 1, 2026.
Anyone arriving with the old plan of buying a general step ticket for a few euro on the night will not find it. That plan belongs to a version of the festival that has been retired.
The 2027 ladder, sector by sector
The 6th sector on the stone tiers runs €22 to €38, the 5th €32 to €55 and the 4th €47 to €75 for the 2027 season. Prices are in euros.
Above them: 3rd sector Rossini €60 to €100, 2nd sector Puccini €85 to €125, 1st sector Verdi €105 to €155, and the Tribune €125 to €200.
The seated end starts with Poltrone in the 2nd sector at €1351 to €200, then Poltronissima in the 1st at €165 to €230, Poltronissima Platinum at €265 to €365, and Poltronissima Platinum Premium at €305 to €4201.
What €22 buys you, physically
A €22 place in the 6th sector is a numbered spot on a stone step, without a chair and without a back. That is the whole product, and it is the honest reason the price is what it is.
Four hours of opera on limestone is a different evening from four hours in the stalls. The gap between €22 and €1351 is a gap in furniture as much as in sightlines.
The building underneath: mid-1st century AD
The Romans built the amphitheater around the middle of the 1st century AD, and it held an estimated 30,0003 spectators. The structure is the standard one: a central arena floor, tiered seating, a podium dividing the two.
Of the outer ring only a short stretch survives, called the Ala, built in the Tuscan order. Everything else you see from the piazza is the second wall, not the facade.
Season dates: 104 editions in
The 1042th festival is programmed from June 11 to September 11, 2027, produced by the Fondazione Arena di Verona. The official page lists performances from June 12, with the 11th reported in the press as the opening night.
That is a three-month window in the hottest part of the Veronese year, which is why performances start late in the evening rather than at dusk.
The numbers the city does not publish
2 figures you would expect are missing from the municipal page: the current capacity for performances and the building's dimensions in meters.
Figures such as 22,0003 places circulate on editorial sites without an official source behind them. Treat them as unconfirmed, and treat the 2027 price list as the one document that decides what you actually get. For the region, see Veneto.
