The Frasassi caves at Genga run a guided route of 1,5001 meters that takes 75 minutes at a constant 57°F (14°C) and costs €20 in 2026, and on the coast the Conero regional park covers 6,0114 hectares around a 5724 meter mountain.
Frasassi: 1,500 meters at 57°F all year
The tourist route through the Frasassi caves, in the comune of Genga, is 1,5001 meters long and takes about 75 minutes, always with a guide.
Inside, the temperature stays at 57°F (14°C) all year, so a sweater belongs in the bag even in August, together with comfortable shoes.
Visitors with reduced mobility can go as far as the start of the second hall, Sala 2001. In a wheelchair, only the first hall is reachable.
Tickets and closures in 2026
A full ticket costs €20 in 2026, €18 reduced and €14 for ages 6 to 14. Reduced covers ages 15 to 25, over-65s, soldiers, CAI members, journalists and teachers.
Children under 6 enter free, as do residents of Genga and disabled visitors who aren't self-sufficient, with a companion. Booking is required only for groups of more than 20.
Two speleological routes go further: the blue, about 2 hours, at €40, and the red, about 3 hours, at €50.
The 2026 calendar closed the caves from January 7 to 30 and closes them again on December 4 and December 25. For a winter visit in 2027, check the new calendar first.
The Conero: 6,011 hectares since 1987
The Conero regional nature park was established in 1987 and covers 6,0114 hectares in four comuni: Ancona, Camerano, Numana and Sirolo. Operational management began in 1991, and Monte Conero, at 5724 meters, dominates all of it.
Portonovo, in the comune of Ancona below the mountain, is the most frequented bay of the Conero. Its beaches are pebble and stone, with free and serviced stretches, and it's partly accessible by wheelchair.
The local specialty is moscioli, wild mussels that grow only on the Conero's rocks. Whether summer car access to Portonovo is restricted, with a compulsory shuttle, isn't stated on the comune's page, so check the summer ordinance before driving down.
Monti Sibillini: Marche's national park
Monti Sibillini is the national park the environment ministry files under Marche, with Macerata as its reference province.
Its area, trails and access rules aren't among the figures verified for this site, so none is described here. The ministry's list also gives only one province per park, which says nothing about where the boundary runs.
Where to go next
Three pages carry more: the Frasassi caves in full, Ancona for the Conero coast, and five days in Umbria and Marche. For the region, see Marche and how busy Marche gets.
