Two Tuscan airports, one operator

Pisa Galileo Galilei (IATA code PSA) recorded 5,977,227¹ passengers in 2025, 7.8% more than in 2024, eleventh in Italy. Florence Peretola Amerigo Vespucci (FLR) recorded 3,847,658², 9.4% up, seventeenth.

Both belong to Toscana Aeroporti, so this is not a rivalry between companies. It is one operator running two fields, and the larger of the two by passengers is the one that sits on the main railway line.

Florence grew faster in percentage terms, Pisa in absolute passengers. For a trip that starts in Tuscany and moves by train, the deciding factor is usually which one has your route at a civil hour.

Terminal to Pisa Centrale, then one bus

From Pisa Centrale, line 1+ leaves stop Stazione 1 towards Park Pietrasantina every 10 minutes and stops at Torre 1, right by the Piazza dei Miracoli. Line 4 leaves stop Stazione 8 every 20 minutes and stops at Del Parlascio.

At night, line 21 runs every 30 minutes from stop Stazione 5 to Torre 1. Coming from the airport, the PisaMover shuttle links the terminal to Pisa Centrale, where you pick up one of those buses.

From the Sesta Porta coach station, lines 60, 70, 80, 120³ and 130³ all reach Torre 1. Whichever way you arrive in Pisa, the last leg is the same stop.

That gap is worth planning around rather than ignoring. Buy at the machines in the terminal and at the tabaccheria near the station, validate on board, and treat the connection as fifteen minutes of buffer rather than a fixed time.

Why the transfer decides your day

Pisa Centrale and Piazza dei Miracoli sit at opposite ends of the old town, joined by three city bus lines and by a long flat walk. With luggage the bus is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving hot.
