Malpensa: 31,385,585 passengers, and the fastest growth

Milan Malpensa (IATA MXP, ICAO LIMC) is the second airport in Italy, with 31,385,585¹ passengers in 2025, 8.6% up on 2024. That rise is the largest of the three Milan codes and one of the largest in the country. The operator is SEA.

Long-haul arrivals land here. If your ticket says MXP, you are north of the city and the transfer is a leg of the trip, not a hop.

Linate: 11,131,764 passengers, eighth in Italy

Milan Linate "Enrico Forlanini" (IATA LIN, ICAO LIML) closed 2025 at 11,131,764² passengers, 4.5% more than in 2024, eighth in the national ranking. SEA runs this one as well.

Linate is the closest of the three to the city and the smallest by traffic. It is where short European and domestic flights concentrate.

Bergamo: down 2.4%, alone among the big airports

Bergamo Orio al Serio "Il Caravaggio" (IATA BGY, ICAO LIME) recorded 16,937,976³ passengers in 2025, 2.4% fewer than in 2024. In a year when the national total rose, it was the only large Italian airport to lose traffic. The operator is SACBO.

You will read everywhere that it is the main low cost base of the country. That claim is not confirmed on a primary source, so this page reports the traffic and leaves the title alone.
