2 stations, and the first one is often yours

2 central stations take these trains, and many Frecciarossa call at Torino Porta Susa a few minutes before terminating at Porta Nuova. Porta Susa sits on metro line 1 and near the modern business quarter; Porta Nuova opens onto via Roma and the arcaded core of the old city.

The mistake is treating the terminus as the correct stop by default. Check which of the two is closer to your address before boarding, because getting off at Porta Susa can save you 15 minutes at the end of a 5-hour day.

The Egyptian Museum sells online only

There is no ticket desk at the Museo Egizio: sales are exclusively online, and turning up without a ticket means not going in. Entry is 18 euro full, 15 euro reduced for over 70s and journalists, 3 euro for students aged 15 to 18 and university students, 1 euro for children 6 to 14, and 36 euro for 2 adults with 2 children. Under 6s go free.

It opens all 7 days, which is rare among major Italian museums: Monday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Tuesday to Friday and Sunday 9:00 am to 6:30 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, last entry an hour before closing. A train arriving at 1:30 pm on a Monday arrives too late.

The Mole: 9 euro for the view alone

The panoramic lift in the Mole Antonelliana costs 9 euro, 7 euro reduced, and can be taken without visiting anything. The National Cinema Museum inside the building costs 18 euro, 16 reduced, and the combined ticket is 23 euro, 20 reduced, with under 6s and ICOM members free.

That split is worth knowing at the end of a long travel day. The lift is 5 minutes and the museum is 2 hours, and they are sold as separate decisions.

12 km of arcades, not 18

Turin's arcade system runs over 12 km according to the city council, along via Roma, via Po, via Pietro Micca, via Cernaia, via Sacchi, corso Vittorio Emanuele II, corso Vinzaglio and via Nizza, connecting Piazza Castello, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Statuto and Piazza Carlo Felice.

The 18 km figure that circulates in the press finds no confirmation in the municipal source, so it is not used here. Either way the consequence is the same: you can cross most of central Turin in the rain without opening an umbrella, which is a genuine argument for a winter stop.
