In the Cinque Terre your train ticket and your park ticket are the same card, the Via dell'Amore costs €10 more, and one section of the coastal path is closed as of September 2026.
What the Treno Card buys
One adult day on the Cinque Terre Treno Card costs €22 to €35 between March 14 and November 1, 2026, in three crowding bands. It covers unlimited second class travel on regional trains between La Spezia, the five villages and Levanto, plus the paid trail sections, the village shuttle buses, the guided walks of the Cinque Terre Walking Park, and the station restrooms, which matters more than it sounds.
Two days cost €36.504 to €61 and three days €49 to €81 in the same period. From November 2 to December 31 the one day card is €17.304, two days €29, three days €34. Children aged 4 to 12 pay €15 to €23.50 a day and over 70s €18.50 to €29.50.
If you are walking, not riding
The Trekking Card is the other option: €10 a day for one adult in standard periods and €15 in high season, €17 and €26.706 for two days. It includes the paid trails, the Via dell'Amore, the village buses and free entry to the CAMeC museum in La Spezia, and no trains at all.
Working out which card wins is arithmetic, not preference. Two train hops a day and one trail section, and the Treno Card is ahead; a single point to point walk with a car parked in Levanto, and it isn't.
The Via dell'Amore is a booked, one way, paid path
The cliff path between Riomaggiore and Manarola costs €10 as a supplement on top of any Cinque Terre Card, and it has to be booked. Residents don't book and don't pay.
Capacity is 4007 people an hour, released in groups of 1007 every 15 minutes, with organized groups capped at 30. In high season it runs one way only, Riomaggiore to Manarola. Hours are 8:00 am to 7:00 pm from April 1 to October 31, last entry 6:30 pm, and 9:30 am to 5:00 pm from November 1 to March 31, last entry 4:30 pm.
What is actually open on the blue trail
As of September 1, 2026 the Sentiero Verde Azzurro, trail 5928, can't be walked end to end. Section 5928-2 between Manarola and Corniglia is closed, and the detour climbs to Volastra and comes back down.
Section 5928-1, Riomaggiore to Manarola, is the Via dell'Amore, graded easy and subject to the rules above. Sections 5928-3, Corniglia to Vernazza, and 5928-4, Vernazza to Monterosso, are open and graded for experienced hikers. Half the sites you'll read still describe the whole route as open. Check the park's own status page on the morning you walk.
Genoa, Portovenere, and the pesto
Liguria's 1997 World Heritage listing covers Portovenere, the five villages and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto: 4,689.259 hectares along 15 km of coast, where most of the dry stone terrace walls date from the 12th century.
The other, from 2006, is Genoa's Strade Nuove and the Rolli palaces, a system of private houses that the Republic once assigned by lot to host visiting dignitaries. It sits up the coast from the crowd and takes almost none of it.
Basilico Genovese, the DOP basil that goes into pesto, has been registered since October 5, 2005. The region recorded 16,128,8661 overnight stays in 2024, 3.46%1 of the national total, which is a lot of people on a strip of coast served by one railway line. Both listings, with what each one includes, are at UNESCO sites in Liguria.
