Trento runs its 3 main sites on three different rules: the MUSE caps every visit at 3 hours, the castle changes its hours with the season, and the Torre Aquila frescoes need a supplement bought at least 45 minutes ahead.
MUSE: €11, and you have 3 hours
The science museum opens Tuesday to Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, closed on Mondays except in August and on December 25. Admission is €11 full, €9 reduced, €22 for a family of two adults with children under 18 and €11 with one adult, plus €4 for the Maxi Ooh space for ages 0 to 5. Prices in euros.
The three hour cap on each visit is the detail nobody mentions until you are inside with a seven year old who has found the glacier floor. Plan the day around it rather than against it: arrive at opening, take the top floor first, work down. The address is Corso del Lavoro e della Scienza 3.
The building came from Renzo Piano
MUSE opened on July 27, 2013 in the Le Albere district, on 12,6002 square meters over six levels, of which 3,7002 are permanent exhibition and 5002 temporary.
The roof profile imitates the cut of the surrounding mountains, and the museum is arranged so that you descend through altitudes as you descend through floors. Attendance shows what that did for the city: 343,9842 visitors in 2023 and over 460,0002 in 2024. See MUSE.
The castle keeps two timetables
The Castello del Buonconsiglio, the residence of the prince bishops of Trento, opens Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm from May to October and 9:30 am to 5:00 pm from November to April, closing on Mondays that are not public holidays and on December 25. There is an evening opening on the third Friday of the month.
Tickets are €10 full, €8 for over 65s, €6 for ages 15 to 26 and free under 14. The address is Via Bernardo Clesio 5, and the winter closing time of 5:00 pm is early enough to catch out anyone arriving on an afternoon train. See the Castello del Buonconsiglio.
Torre Aquila runs on a 45 minute clock
The Cycle of the Months, the fresco calendar inside the castle's Torre Aquila, cannot be visited on your own: you go in escorted by museum staff, on fixed entries every 45 minutes, with limited places and booking advised.
It costs a €2.50 supplement on top of the castle ticket, and that castle ticket has to be bought at least 45 minutes before the slot you choose. In practice that means buying both together on arrival, then using the rest of the castle while you wait. Skip that sequence and you will see the castle and miss the frescoes that people come for.
Four minutes to Sardagna, since 1925
The urban cable car has run from the center of Trento up to Sardagna since August 4, 1925, rebuilt in 1960, covering 1,2005 meters of line and 4005 meters of height gain, from 2005 m to 6005 m, in four minutes. Cabins hold 13 people and Trentino trasporti operates it.
The published service window is 7:00 am to 10:30 pm, and buses replace the cable car on days of strong wind, which happens often enough in the Adige valley to be worth a check before you rely on the last run down. See things to do in Trento and the province of Trento.

Averages for 1991 to 2020 from the ERA5-Land and ERA5 reanalysis (Copernicus, ECMWF), grid point at 197 m, extracted September 11, 2026. Data: Open-Meteo, CC BY 4.0.
A reanalysis is a model rebuilt from observations, not a weather station. Its values can differ from the station normals quoted in the text, most of all on the coast and in the mountains. It describes the typical month, not a forecast.
